Fourteen business teams competed in the first annual 'Great Sussex Bath Race' at a private lake near Chichester.

The Hungry Guest from Petworth taking the Grand Final Winners trophy and Caremark from Worthing winning the Demolition Derby.

The John Lewis at Home team from Chichester made a great come back after sinking on their maiden voyage and having to rebuild their raft, winning the Wooden Spoon trophy, while Mayo Wynne Baxter and Juice 107.2 team were recognised for their spirit and enthusiasm taking home the Booby Prize.

Teams of four were provided with bath tubs and equipment to build a raft on the day and then paddle 250 yards racing against other teams in heats, with the winners going forward to a grand final race in the afternoon to win The Great Sussex Bath Race 2013 trophies – adorned with bath taps. The day was compered by Tomfoolery, with Juice 107.2’s Ambrose Harcourt presenting prizes.

Companies participating included The Hungry Guest, BP, John Lewis at Home, The Martin Sewell Building Company, Rendezvous Casino, British Airways Engineering, SJP Partnership, Mayo Wynne Baxter with Juice 107.2, Caremark, Natwest, Focus Group, Cocoa Loco, Virgin Atlantic and Bentley Motors.

Neil Laughton, event director, said: “It was a brilliant day and we have already raised around £13,000 for our chosen charities, Chestnut Tree House and LifeCentre, with more pledges and donations to be counted.”
