Medina House in Hove has caught fire.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue were called to the scene at just after 3.50pm this afternoon (Friday).
Police cordoned off the street from Medina Terrace to Kings Esplanade while three fire engines attended the scene.
Abround 150 people were watching nearby.
A spokesman for Sussex police said: “Police have been made aware of a fire at Medina House in Hove.
“The fire service has brought it under control and are currently checking the premises to ensure there is no-one inside.”
