A former television presenter has been jailed for a year for having some of the most "disgusting" videos to come to light.

Sen Luo, 40, had more than 800 video images on his laptop and hard-drives showing women being tortured and bestiality.

Police discovered the "extreme porn" by accident whilst conducting an unrelated fraud inquiry.

Suspicions were raised when Luo, who also uses the name Edward Law, refused to answer the door of a house he was living in in Copthorne Road, East Grinstead.

Luo claimed the images were part of his research for a Chinese Sex And The City-style book.

He said he thought it would be a way of making money after fleeing China, where he presented an economics programme, in 2008.

But the Old Bailey jury found him guilty by an 11-1 majority of two counts under a new law of possessing extreme pornography.

One charge related to "disgusting" images involving animals while the second related to acts which caused damage to parts of the body.

Judge Charles Wide said: "This is such an enormous amount of extreme pornography which must have been amassed over a period of time."

Outside court, Detective Constable Kim Negus, of City of London police, said she had to view the videos with the sound turned down to cut out the screams of the women.

She said: "These videos were disgusting and distressing. I viewed around 18 of them and had to have the sound down.

"They featured oriental women but it is impossible to say how they came to be used for these images."
