Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas has made a last call for projects who want to make a Dragons Den-style pitch for cash.
Last week she gave a helping hand to a project that collects the harvest from unused fruit trees and puts it to good use.
The Scrumping Project run by Brighton Permaculture Trust uses the collected fruit to make juices, chutneys, jams and other produce and sells them at a cafe in Stanmer Park.
The team are working to make the project self financing and create a social enterprise.
Dr Lucas visited the project to highlight a new Dragons’ Den-style initiative that aims to give social enterprises the chance to pitch to investors and learn about development and funding possibilities.
The Brighton and Hove Social Investment Pitch and Networking event will take place on November 29 at the American Express Community Stadium in Falmer.
Organisers hope up to 100 firms will take part, with social enterprises bidding for funds from about 30 investors and attending inspirational workshops on how to reach funders.
The deadline is this Friday. For more information visit www.theideasfactory.com/news-brighton-social-investment-event-2012/.
