Political comedian, author and regular visitor to the Houses of Parliament, Mark Thomas was at the Old Market to launch his new book, Belching Out The Devil: Global Adventures With Coca Cola.
Throughout the evening, Thomas told tales of the people he had met on his global Coke adventure – including those who had been sacked for forming a trade union and the Mexican shopkeeper who single-handedly stopped Coca Cola from bullying shop owners who had started stocking a rival drink.
He also recalls his battle to get answers from the corporation itself.
Whether reading excerpts from the book, or enthusiastically acting out anecdotes ad lib, Thomas’ comfortable humour made accessible a story of law, lies and a “brown sugar liquid”.
