Profile: Tom Staniford’s first guitar was made out of a tissue box and elastic band. He wanted to be a musician for as long as he can remember.

Moving through the usual school and college bands, his first taste of success was in the duo Pandora, which took a five-month residency in the French Alps.

Since 2008 he has worked as a session and touring musician, backing the likes of Gary Phelan, Jadan Lee and Mike Dignam on bass and vocals.

All that time he was working on his own career and his new EP Lesson Still Young is the first fruit.

Since the release he has also featured on the soundtrack of Brighton-made movie City Of Dreamers – which he helped launch in Madrid last night – and is due to play the student festival Beach Break Live in South Wales next weekend.
