Profile: Formed in Brighton to compete in a talent contest in 2010 when its members were studying at the University Of Sussex, The Suburbians are releasing their debut album next month.

Based around brothers Ben and Mark Konstantinovic, with Charlie Roberts on bass and Ben Nyari on drums, the band took its name from an ex-girlfriend’s mangled attempt to describe the brothers’ Serbian heritage.

The band performed on the Heart FM mainstage at the first Brighton Marathon, and had a residency at the Pav Tav playing acoustic covers between 2009 and 2010.

Since then they have been picked up by Motorhead and Manic Street Preachers producer Romesh Dodangoda, who helped put together their forthcoming debut, and won the Indie Week festival in Dublin last May securing them a headline festival slot in Canada this October.

Their CV includes headline shows at Proud Camden, The Square and Queen Of Hoxton in London, The Roadmender in Northampton and The Bowery in New York.
