The Eighties Matchbox B-line DisasterFrom: Brighton Profile: Last year marked the first decade of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, following a career which has seen them produce five top 40 singles, and release three full-length albums. The psychobilly band has always had a hard work ethic, producing some amazing live shows and, in their early days, gigging 200 times a year. Blood And Fire, which was released in May, was the band’s first album since 2004, and saw the departure of founder member Andy Huxley, who went on to form noiseniks Vile Imbeciles. Earlier this year the band said goodbye to another founder member, guitarist Marc Norris, who has since been permanently replaced by Dominic Knight. Their forthcoming Brighton show closes their Enter The Savage BooHoo Tour, which promoted the release of new single So Long, Goodnight. The single has the unlikely honour of being the band’s first ballad. “So Long, Goodnight reminds me of a road movie,” says frontman Guy McKnight. “It’s definitely an anti-hero ballad”.
