Influences: Iceland, Pixies, Aberfeldy, Band Of Horses, Kate Bush, Belle And Sebastian, Seth Lakeman, Steely Dan, Rabbie Burns and Joni Mitchell.

Profile: Born in January 2007, The Beautiful Word is based around songwriters Emily Bryant and Megan Clifton who started performing together at open mic shows.

Recruiting “the noise boys” – Nelson on guitar, Scotty on bass and Gruff on drums – to fill out their “tickly, pretty tiny songs” the band went out on the road. Their gigs generally feature colouring-in competitions, sweet and cake-throwing and impressive costumes.

The band produced their debut album Curvature Of Words earlier this year, and are celebrating its release this weekend.
