MoulettesFrom: Brighton, London and Southampton Influences: Jethro Tull, Björk, Shostakovitch, Fleetwood Mac and Blowzabella Profile: The eagerly awaited follow-up to their self-titled 2010 debut album, which earned Moulettes four stars from Mojo and Time Out, will see the band welcome back a former member. For the recording sessions former bandmate bassist Ted Dwane, currently riding high in the charts as part of Brit Award winners Mumford And Sons, will be rejoining the band. Moulettes is based around cellist Hannah Miller, bassoon player Ruth Skipper, violinist Gina Vernier, drummer/guitarist Ollie Austin, percussionist Rob Arcari and folk singer Laura Hockenhull. Between them, and as a unit, the band members have worked with the likes of Mumford And Sons, Seasick Steve, Mystery Jets, Patrick Wolf, Band Of Skulls, former Housemartin and Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton, Liz Green and The Ting Tings. Their tour diary has also seen stints at Glastonbury, Bestival, The Secret Garden Party and Leicester's Summer Sundae, and a busking tour of Europe. On the bill later in the year are Manchester's Chorlton Arts Festival, Somerset's Sunrise Celebration, Rhythms Of The World in Hitchin, Standon Calling, Chichester's I Am Joy Festival, the Purbeck Folk Festival and a return visit to the Secret Garden Party. For the Brighton Festival Fringe they are helping launch a new seasonal night of music and theatre at Komedia called The Woods - for more details see below. The band will be releasing a new single and EP this autumn on the label Balling The Jack. What A Way To Spend A Day (right click on the track to download, left click to stream) |
