The Argus: Bad For Lazarus

Bad For Lazarus

From: Brighton

Influences: The Stooges, Pixies, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Robert Johnson, The Cramps, Buddy Holly, Queens Of The Stone Age, Tom Waits.

Profile: So their publicity goes Bad For Lazarus are “tacitly rescuing dispirited music lovers from a mire of one-dimensional pop vomit, half-baked rock cutouts and emo-goth have-a-goes that all too readily litter the floor of the UK’s music scene”.

The band boasts former members of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Nine Inch Nails and UNKLE, and describe their sound as a mix of Motown and Richard Hell – or “Motown Hell”.

My Muddle was released as a single in November, receiving radio play on BBC Radio 6 Music, XFM and Total Rock Radio, and named as single of the month by ArtRocker.

Famous fans include Craig Charles, Nick Cave and Chris Goss, while the band has played with the likes of Liars, Winnebago Deal, Hawk Eyes and Black Moth.

Their soon-to-be-released album, Life’s A Carnival, Bang, Bang, Bang, which was produced by Pablo Clements and James Griffith (aka Toydrum of UNKLE fame), features guest vocals from The Duke Spirit’s Leila Moss.
