Profile: Having initially learned her craft on her family's neglected upright piano, Abi Wade's unique sound began to develop in secondary school when she took up the cello.

At Brighton University she began to explore new ways of playing and composing on the instrument, taking ideas from Satie, avant-garde movements and performance art.

This has developed into her And Blood And Air EP, which combines strings, percussion and her vocal chords to create wholly original, frail and beautiful songs.

The music piqued the interest of Brighton-based promoters Love Thy Neighbour, which made the songwriter their first signing and release.
