Serious accident closes seafront road

A seafront road is closed after an accident between a motorcycle and a car.

The collision between the green Range Rover and blue motorcycle happened on King's Road, in front of Brunswick Terrace, Hove at about 12.25pm.

Police and paramedics are currently at the scene and drivers are facing lengthy tailbacks.

A stretch of the seafront road has been closed and motorists are being diverted to Western Road.

A police spokesman described the accident as "serious". The motorcyclist is said to have suffered leg injuries but his condition is not life-threatening.

I hope no-one is badley hurt but I must say motorbike riders are getting very daring this year. One drove on my tail at 70mph if I had put my breaks on he would have come off his bike -

Condemned the Biker as the fault without knowing anything about it, typical motorist,
and i must say car drivers are getting worse, lack of thought, lack of vision and so many on mobile phones or eating whilst driving.
Many seem unable to maneuver ie reversing,
youngsters drive too fast. What the hell you have already condemned. I suppose that you are the perfect driver - eh

Why condeem the biker with out knowing who is at fault my Son has a motorbike and car and he often says why dont car drivers give consideration to bike riders as well.

Where do they say it was the motorcyclist's fault? They just merely pass comment on one incident.

A suggestion -
Bike Riders - always have your headlights on, even in daylight, you'll be amazed the difference it makes
Car Drivers - try looking in your mirrors on a regular basis

I directly witnessed the crash today, I was passing in my car right at the moment it happened and stayed at the scene to give a statement.

It was not the bike's fault. He was driving at 20-25mph and was hit by a jeep doing an illegal U-turn from the other side of the road. The motorcyclist was knocked into the air and fell heavily against a bollard. He was not able to move for a long time and had to be stabilised by paramedics for half an hour before being taken to hospital.

Funny, passing people's first comments were in scorn over the speed of motorcyclists.

The driver who hit him was arrested.
