Adams to review retained list

Micky Adams will take another look at the list of players released and retained by his managerial predecessor, Dean Wilkins.

Wilkins axed ten players on Tuesday, including long-serving trio Kerry Mayo, Gary Hart and Guy Butters, and gave five others new deals.

Adams said: "I will sit down with Dick (chairman Dick Knight) and the Board and review it. That is not to say players who have been released will be given a way back into the club.

"I will review it and take opinions. I've got my own opinions because I have seen the team three or four times this season."

Adams has ruled out a return to the club for either of his former assistants, Alan Cork and Bob Booker.

He said: "The chairman has already said we've got an established coaching set-up at the club and I don't see that changing."

That's NOT what he says on Seagulls world. He says there MAY be a way back for the players who have been released!!

He's not saying there will be a way back (and he's not saying there won't). All he's saying is there may be! Give the bloke a break Mark.
Good luck Micky and well done to Dean for getting us up to 7th in spite of all the changes, and all those knocking his efforts.

It is hard to say who I would keep because I don't know the budget or Adams intentions but players I would expect will be considered again are Rents and Butters I think.

Hi

Joel I hope Rentzey Sonny and Reid at least are reconsidered - I understand Rentzey is being looked at by a couple of clubs already. DW refused to let him go on loan at least 3 times and the clubs have waited I understand. Anyway he deserves some respect 33 games last season surely stands for that!!!!

I'm not knocking anyone, just wondering why Adams has been mis-quoted, unless that particular statement was made at the press conference, contradicting what is on Seagulls world.

"Possibly players that have been released, there may be a way back for them, but that's for discussion later on"

That is what is said on the video!

mark, Haywards heath, has it not occured to you that he gave an interview to Seagulls World and another to the Argus. They are probably reporting what he said to them not Seagulls World

It has, which is why I did suggest the possibility of the contradicting statement occurring at this afternoons press conference!

Keep Sam Rents Mickey; he's like a young Kerry Mayo, only maybe a bit more potential!

The players who have been released should STAY released as they deserved to go.

I totally agree with you Smudge, problem is do you think Mickey will read this?

I think Cobbs should be kept too - and Reid surely deserves 6 months at least!

Yeah Mickey, keep Rents or he may come back and haunt us

Personally I can't see Reid having a possibility of staying. After his attacck on both Wilkins and White how could he be boguht back!?

Talking about who to let back in or not - how could DW possibly stay at the club if MA does reverse any of his decisions?

I feel sorry for Wilkins, and think that the whole saga stinks of unfairness. Nothing against Adams, but this isn't the time. DK goes up a few points in the polls, that's what it's about.

Utter, utter madness. Not only has Wilkins been dumped on he is expected to stay ... oh and by the way Dean ... we might bring back some of the players you axed. You'll be happy to coach them, right?

Surely the decisions regarding players future should have been made once Micky Adams was appointed and by him rather than the outgoing manager Dean Wilkins.

Having made the decisions there are absolutely no way they can bring back some of the players Wilkins axed as it would place Wilkins in a very akward situation.

Great to see Mickey back - think he's the man to get us back in the Championship.
But let go of all the experience..?? Kerry's featured in some of or best results..surely he deserves to see another manager!!

Oh please, we need more forward and we aren't going to do that by keeping the likes of Butters, Mayo, Hart and Reid!

Que Sera Sera I guess. I can't believe we are not get Booker back. Also all this stuff about signing five players. Giving a new contract is not signing a player becasue he is
a) not new and
b) already had a contract with us!!!
