TODAY we continue our focus on the Sussex Super Growth Awards which recognise the 60 fastest expanding businesses.

Their success will be celebrated at an awards event at the American Express Stadium at Falmer on March 7.

It is sponsored by asb law, Lloyds Bank and Kreston Reeves in partnership with The Argus.

This week we are focusing on Stamco, which has been trading for 60 years.

It was founded in 1957 in Hastings as a family owned, independent supplier of timber mouldings.

Since that time the company has gone from strength to strength and now employs more than 170 staff in five branches across Sussex.

This is the second year in a row Stamco has been shortlisted in the Sussex Super Growth Awards.

Company secretary Nicholas Wilde said: As a privately owned business, with our strong links to the Sussex community and offering good career opportunities across the county, we are delighted to be recognised once again by the prestigious Sussex Super Growth Awards.

“Our continued success is due to our dedicated workforce, excellent products and services and our loyal customer base.

“Throughout our business, at all levels, we have a long and proud tradition of working with and supporting a wide range of local community projects.”

The company is made up of three core businesses: Stamco Building Supplies, Stamco Timber and Inspired Home Interiors.

Stamco Building Supplies is an independent builders’ merchant serving trade and retail customers from branches in Eastbourne, Hastings, Hove, Shoreham and Rye.

Stamco Timber is an importing, manufacturing and wholesale distribution business which supplies a range of timber, boards and wood flooring products to merchants, construction companies and other manufacturers across the South.

This business operates from the distribution centre and timber mill in St Leonards.

Inspired Home Interiors, with showrooms in Hastings, Eastbourne and Shoreham, offers “quality kitchens, bespoke bathrooms, beautiful bedrooms” from leading brand names including Laura Ashley, Milano, Linear, Aquadi and Urbano.

It also offers an extensive range of floor and wall tiles from leading manufacturers as well as a full range of architecturally designed metal and glass work to enhance and personalise customers’ projects.

Shirley Smith, partner at the Gatwick office of sponsor Kreston Reeves, said the awards were an important initiative for Sussex businesses: For more details about the awards, email Neil.Gardner@asb-law.com
