Trains

Southern is running extra trains with additional coaches to Brighton and Preston Park first thing from locations around the county to ensure runners make the 9am start, although passengers are warned of engineering works in East Sussex that could affect their journey.

People are also warned to expect crowds at both Brighton and Preston Park in the morning and later in the day.

Brighton Main Line

Most services will be formed of 10 or 12 carriages until 8pm.

5.02am Victoria to Brighton, calling at Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath, Preston Park and Brighton (arriving 6.22am)..

5.47am Victoria to Brighton, calling at Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath, Wivelsfield, Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Preston Park and Brighton (arriving 7.08am).

6.20am, Victoria to Brighton, calling at Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath, Wivelsfield, Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Preston Park and Brighton (arriving 7.38am).

6.32am Victoria to Brighton, calling at Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Balcombe, Haywards Heath, Wivelsfield, Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Preston Park and Brighton (arriving 7.58am).

7.02am Victoria to Brighton, calling at Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath, Preston Park and Brighton (arriving. 8.17am).

 

West Coastway

The following services to be formed of eight carriages.

6.06am Barnham to Brighton, calling at Littlehampton, Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham, Southwick, Portslade, Hove and Brighton (arriving 6.55am).

6am, Portsmouth Harbour to Brighton, calling at Chichester, Barnham, Ford, Angmering, Goring, Durrington, West Worthing, Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham, , Southwick, Portslade, Hove and Brighton (arriving 7.25am).

7.37am West Worthing to Brighton, calling at Worthing, East Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham, Southwick, Fishersgate, Portslade, Aldrington, Hove and Brighton (arriving 8.06am).

8.10am West Worthing to Brighton calling at Worthing, East Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham, Southwick, Fishersgate, Portslade, Aldrington, Hove and Brighton (arriving 8.40am).

 

East Coastway

Engineering works means that the normal service is amended.

The following services to be formed of eight carriages.

6.44am Eastbourne to Brighton, calling at Hampden Park, Polegate, Berwick, Glynde, Lewes, Falmer, Moulscoomb, London Road and Brighton (arriving 7.27am).

6.54am Eastbourne to Brighton, calling at Hampden Park, Polegate, Lewes, Falmer, Moulscoomb, London Road and Brighton (arriving 7.37am).

7.30am Eastbourne to Victoria, calling at Hampden Park, Polegate, Berwick, Glynde, Lewes, Falmer, Moulscoomb, London Road and Brighton (arr.iving 8.13am).

8.12am Eastbourne to Brighton, calling at Hampden Park, Polegate, Lewes, Falmer, Moulscoomb, London Road and Brighton, (arriving at 8.52am).

 

Buses

Bus services in the city will be disrupted between between 8am and 4pm.

Most roads in the city centre will reopen at 11.30am and buses can go back to normal routes although it is likely to take time for services to return to their usual timetables.

Church Road and New Church Road will be closed west of The Drive from 8am to 3pm so buses will not serve Hove town hall.

From 8am most buses approaching the city centre from the west will terminate at Churchill Square/Western Road..

Buses travelling from the east will start and terminate at Gala Bingo, Lewes Road bus garage or Fiveways.

Routes 1/1A will run a service between Mile Oak and Churchill Square/Gala Bingo and Whitehawk only.

Routes 2/2A will operate between Steyning/Shoreham and Churchill Square only.

The section of route to Woodingdean and Rottingdean will be suspended until noon with alternative services will be available on diverted Routes 14 and 27.

Routes 5/5A/5B will operate between Hangleton and Churchill Square only.

A shuttle service will operate between Hollingbury ASDA and Patcham (Mackie Avenue).

Route 6 will operate a normal service but via Portland Road until 3pm.

Route 7 will operate between George Street and the Clock Tower only. Buses will operate from Brighton Station via Upper Gloucester Road, Buckingham Road and Dyke Road, returning from the Clock Tower via Queens Road as normal

Services to the Marina will be suspended until 11.45am with alternative services available on Route 23.

Route 27 from Saltdean will terminate at Gala Bingo and a shuttle service will run between Westdene and the Clock Tower. Buses will operate from Brighton Station via Upper Gloucester Road, Buckingham Road and Dyke Road, returning from the Clock Tower via Queens Road as normal.

Road Closures

  • Madeira Drive Roads affected into Brighton from 7am until 11am
  • Preston Circus closed from 7am until 10.15am
  • Old Steine closed from 7am until 11.30am
  • London Road into Brighton / Hove will be diverted west at South Road and can travel into Brighton via Dyke Road.
  • London Road into Brighton / East Brighton will be diverted east at Harrington Road until 10.15am
  • A270 from Falmer travelling into Brighton / Hove will be diverted west onto Hollingdean Road
  • A270 from Falmer travelling into East Brighton / Rottingdean will be diverted east onto Elm Grove until 11.30am
  • Travelling from Hove to East Brighton you will need to use Old Shoreham Road and follow diversions. Preston Circus will be open for west to east access from 10.15am
  • Ditchling Road travelling to Brighton / Hove will be diverted at Fiveways to Preston Drove
  • Ditchling Road travelling to East Brighton / Rottingdean will be diverted at Fiveways to Bear Road
  • Bear Road will have access to Hollingdean Road via the Vogue Gyratory all day
  • Elm Grove to Brighton / Hove will be diverted to Hollingdean Road until 11.30am
  • Southover Street will have no access onto Lewes Road until 11.30am
  • Edwards Street will have no access onto Pavilion Parade until 11.30am
Into Brighton from 7.30am until 1.30pm

  • A259 from Eastbourne will be diverted north at Rottingdean from 7.30am till 1.30pm
  • Traffic from Ovingdean to Brighton will need to travel through Woodingdean via Falmer Road
  • Ovingdean to Rottingdean / Eastbourne will need to travel via Falmer Road

Roads affected into Brighton until 4pm

  • West Street will have access to the car parks all day but have no access onto Kings Road from 7.30am to 4pm
  • Montpelier Road will have eastbound access only onto Kings Road from 7.30am to 4pm
  • The Drive will have limited access onto Grand Avenue from 9am to 4pm
  • A259 from Shoreham will have access as far as Third Avenue until 4pm

Access to Madeira Drive will be restricted all day.

Parking

There will be parking bay suspensions in Brunswick Terrace, Eaton Place, Grand Avenue, Haddington Close, Kingsway, Madeira Drive and St Georges Terrace.

The Regency Square Car Park will be open on the race day, however it will not be possible to enter or exit the car park during the race.

The Lanes Car Park will be open all day.

Park and Ride

Park and ride schemes with 3,000 spaces are available at the following locations:

University of Brighton – parking at the following sites: Moulsecoomb – Watts building, Mithras House and Crockcroft.

University of Sussex – parking at main University Campus on the A27.

Yellow park and ride signs will be set up on the A27.
