A flightless bird that became extinct more than 350 years ago is the latest addition to a museum's amazing menagerie of creatures.

This complete skeleton of a Dodo arrived at the Booth Museum of Natural History in Dyke Road in Brighton last month.

The skeleton was up for auction along with a diplodocus back in December but while the giant dinosaur was snapped up for £400,000, the dodo failed to sell before museum staff offered it a new nest.

The skeleton is a replica, no complete original skeleton exists, but is cast from real bones which originally were found on the island of Mauritius.

It will go on display until staff at the museum have fashioned a new display cabinet for it.
