The index is produced by the Met Office and takes into account wind speeds, temperatures and rainfall.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has given three tips to people heading out into the sun today.
- Fully extinguish cigarettes.
- Take extra care if using disposable barbecues.
- Put litter in a bin or take it home
