Venomous snakes, soaring red kites and waddling goslings are just a few of the creatures you can spot at a beautiful nature reserve with views of the South Downs.

The RSPB's Pulborough Brooks reserve is home to adders, the UK's only venomous snake.

They can be spotted basking in the sunshine in the heathland, which is exactly where camera club snapper Jo Parsons found one in a visit to the reserve at the weekend.

Pulborough Brooks is in the Arun Valley between Pulborough and Storrington and is home to a range of habitats from grasslands and wildflower meadows to heathland and forests.

Anna Allum, RSPB visitor experience manager, said: "There is lots for wildlife lovers and families to discover at the site.

“The café and shop have stunning views of the Arun Valley too."

Visitors are invited to experience the magic of a springtime walk where they will be serenaded by a choir of warblers.

Meanwhile on the wetlands lapwings will be performing acrobatics in the air.
