A pharmacy which first opened in 1914 is to close for good at the end of this week.

Number 17 to 19 St James’s Street, Brighton, was built specifically for Boots early last century with the brand still trading from the building today.

But bosses have confirmed that after trading for 109 years, the branch will shut for good on Sunday (November 19).

A sign in the shop window notifies customers that the nearest alternative Boots store is in North Street and that people should speak with the pharmacy team about collecting their prescriptions from a new location.

It is hoped that another business will move into the space quickly after Boots vacates, as the building is popular among history fans.

The Boots insignia is engraved at the top of the building painted in the company’s signature blue paint, along with the year the building opened.

Boots was contacted for comment.
