Roberto De Zerbi has set his Albion side a top-half target after their point at Newcastle.

Joel Veltman’s close-range goal helped secure a 1-1 draw in their final away game.

Albion had to defend strongly for long periods but also had chances to add a second goal before conceding in the final seconds of the first half.

De Zerbi said: "We would like to finish the season in the first ten places.

“All the problems we this season, it is a great result.

"It is important the point, especially in this stadium.

“I think St James' Park is the best stadium in the Premier League.

“I have twice been in this stadium and both times it was an incredible atmosphere.”

Abion have nudged ahead of Bournemouth and into tenth spot but Crystal Palace are just two points behind after their win at Wolves.

Chelsea visit the Amex on Wednesday, followed by Manchester United on Sunday.

De Zerbi said: "It is important now that we have two home games and we want to make our fans happy.

"If you remember this season we played for the first time in the Europa League.

"If you consider how many injuries we had, I think finishing in the top ten should be a great, great result – better than last season."
