Albion are working to regain the goal-power which can take them to a strong end to the season.

The Seagulls have been the lowest scorers in the Premier League over the two months since their 5-0 win at Sheffield United.

Seven league games since then have brought just four goals – two of them gifted by opponents – although they have played fewer matches than most teams in that period.

They have also drawn blanks in cup games at Wolves and Roma.

At the same time, they have the fourth best defensive record in that time.

Roberto De Zerbi makes no secret of the fact his side have missed the wing play of Kaoru Mtoma and that Julio Enciso still needs time to get back to his best after a lengthy injury-enforced absence.

Albion now prepare to face Manchester City, the side against whom Enciso scored goal of the season last term.

Looking ahead to the run-in, De Zerbi said: “We try to score some more goals.

“To improve in the last 20 metres because I think on the other side of the pitch we are doing a good job.

“We are playing, I think, not an amazing game but we are playing well.

“In the last 20 metres it is not enough what we are doing.”

Albion have had time to rest top-scorer Joao Pedro after he left the Burnley game suffering from cramp in the closing stages having also been sidelined for a significant period due to injury earlier in the year.
